How it Works
When many people think of brightening their smile, they imagine having to sit in a dental chair under a bleaching light. While that is one way to have your teeth whitened, in our experience it’s not the best way, and it’s certainly not the most convenient. At Park Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, our whitening solution is powerfully effective, customized to your needs, and flexible to your schedule.
Through the KöR and Opalescence teeth whitening systems, we utilize the bleaching power of a high-strength peroxide gel held in contact with your teeth by a custom-designed tray that fits snugly against them. When applied and left on for a prescribed period of time, the peroxide solution seeps down into the dentin of the teeth to bleach deeply embedded stains. The result after two to four weeks is a dramatically whiter smile! This process can be repeated as many times as desired to reach your ideal level of brightness.
Teeth Whitening with Opalescence
We begin our process with a routine dental exam to make sure there are no underlying issues that would be irritated by the whitening gel. We’ll also give your teeth a good cleaning to get them ready to be bleached. If everything looks fine, we’ll go ahead and make your custom trays so you can take them home and get started whitening right away. It’s a quick and easy process to make the trays — we’ll just need to take some digital impressions of your teeth first so that the trays will fit just as they should.
Together, based on your preferences and whitening needs, we’ll come up with a wearing schedule that works for you. Some patients like to wear them for one long period overnight, while others prefer a couple of shorter periods during the day. The type of gel we give you will depend on the usage plan we establish. Whatever the plan, make sure to follow it closely as wearing the tray for too long in one interval can cause your teeth to shift position. As we’ll also remind you at your appointment, you’ll want to brush and floss thoroughly just before you put on your tray each time.
With your gel and trays in hand, you’ll be ready to get started! We’ll schedule follow-up visits to check for and resolve any instances of irritation that may arise. Once your follow-up visits are complete, you’ll be free to repeat the process as many times as you want for an ever brighter smile.

Our brightest solution is the KöR Whitening system, which utilizes an ultra-potent peroxide gel to provide the deepest level of teeth bleaching.
